Aggie Gourd Dwarf Mr. Mann
Session
- The crew landed on Hyle's Cradle, a spartan planet with a floating arcology shaped like a dumbbell. They are approached by an unnamed woman to smuggle a bomb onto an Inner Band military base. The bomb is said to be filled with a bacteria that eats metal and is resistant to the vacuum of space.
- With procured uniforms and fake papers they smuggle themselves onto the ship. Lieber sabotages the galley stove to flare up during jump. It becomes a massive gout of flame killing their section leader. Lieber goes off to circumvent the freon for the low passage berths. The resulting chaos has Lieber posing a surgeon and killing 13 of the 15 marines he was tasked with reviving. On the way to be reported to the captain for incompetence Lieber kills the head surgeon and with Zoe takes over the bridge.
- They take over the ship, venting all the air.
- A week later, still in jump they go in search of food. A metallic spider latches onto Broom's face and pops his head like a watermelon. Zoe dispatches it. They learn the ship may have thousands of them.
- A week later life support is cut. Zoe has very limited oxygen as Lieber destroyed the vacc-suits for the crew. She goes and finds the life support room filled with spiders, drawing power from the machine. She disables a few but 3 come to life and pursue her. Ultimately knocking her unconscious.
- Lieber records a final message for the captain to relay to the station then rips his spine out on the bridge.
- Zoe, controlled by spiders, sabotages the engine almost causing a catastrophic failure. The engine sheers off when it comes out of jump, stranding Zoe in space. Lieber directs the ship to crash into the military station. In the air raft they see Zoe puppeted, shooting frantically into the void of space.
Reflections
What a session! I had the patron, a list of mission complications, and the deckplan for the ship and it all came together swimmingly. I made a ruling today for a combat stunt similar to how thrown weapons are handled and I think I actually like it better than my previous take on the idea!
