Troika! Crawl Rules

After an exchange with Melsonia last week for Troika Tuesday I thought I would expand on the dungeon rules I have been using and get them posted.

And please use their citizen generator! It's great for hirelings and henchmen!

Encounters

In high risk areas have the player with the lowest Luck Test Their Luck. An encounter reduces every party member's Luck by 1. In low risk areas do the same but test the player with the highest Luck. Failures that are 10, 11, or 12 mean the players are surprised. In locations where the danger is uncertain have a random player Test Their Luck.

Reaction

The monster specific Miens tables should be used. If not, use a generic one.

  1. Frenzied
  2. Annoyed
  3. Hungry
  4. Teasing
  5. Worried
  6. Charitable

Morale

To test if hirelings flee have the player who is the Henchmen Honcho (they update the porter sheets, keep track of the hirelings) test their luck. This test is done at a positive if the henchmen have been treated well or the player has a skill at a high enough level eg. Etiquette 5. This test should only be down when the fighting force has been reduced by half, something extremely terrible has happened, or the Henchmen Honcho has been slain! Negative modifiers should be added for these dire outcomes.

Enemies test their skill for morale and test it under similar circumstances as to hirelings.

Dungeon Turns

Use your best sense and the rules from your favored Dungeon Crawler, but the party must rest and snack on a Provision once per hour in the dungeon or risk incurring a fatigue penalty. Each hour without rest and a treat adds a -1 to all rolls.

Carousing

For each 1,500 gold spent partying, have the players gain a temporary Luck point. This DOES NOT raise their maximum Luck, but serves as temporary Luck to burn for the next Delve.

Traps

Instead of the classic 2-in-6 chance of trap activation have the players test their Luck when engaging with a trap.

Darkness

Players in complete darkness are treated as having a Luck of 2.
