Three Men, Eighteen Pigs, and their Guns: SWINE Play Report
I just wrapped up playing Blark's SWINE run by Aggie (Gourd Dwarf) and it was a bleak, harrowing journey to try and get those pigs to safety.
Background
We are three humble men from Sisland.
Olag Elyan - oldhawkeyes (me)
Piotra Pavizh - Chaoclypse
Prapev Biava - Mr. Mann
Our neighboring country is invading, fascist Broland (Sic.) Partisans and enemy soldiers are out and about. To the north are the communists.
There is a pig influenza. We are migrating our herd over a 5 day trip to get the pigs vaxxed by our uncle Bishka.
We toast our journey but Prapev gets crazy with it and chugs the whole damn bottle with his tongue in there.
Day 1 - 5 days to town
We see six men along the road. They call to us. They are lost and hungry. I share a loaf of bread with them. North, they want to go north to get away from the war. No news of soldiers along the road. At night aside from rustling we encounter nothing.
Day 2 - 4 days to town
We start early after the noises woke us up. Ahead some partisans harass some old men collapsed on the road. Prapev has the idea to run towards the partisans and request aid. One of the partisans sees through the ruse and shoots at Prapev but it goes wide. The partisan grabs the battered old man to take him hostage. Piotra hits one of the partisans. Another panicked trading of shots. Piotra fires again. Hitting one of the hostages, killing the younger of the two hostages. These partisans are bandits, coyotes playing at being soldiers.
One of the bandits kicks the other hostage at Prapev. Prapev sidesteps the old man. I finally get behind the bandits, avoiding the shots from Piotra and the other bandit. I wound the one grappling Prapev. Finally the bandits surrender. We take their weapons, food, and drink. I chop their shooting fingers at the knuckle.
We tell the old man Bushev that he can rest at our farmstead while we are away. For a moment we are silent as we bury his son.
A thief steals a pig in the night. Prapev slays the thief
Day 3 - 3 days to town
Piotra finishes another bottle of my liquor.
An elder herding goats yells at us to get off the road. He scolds us for drinking.
Thankfully at night no one bothers us.
Day 4/5 - 2.5 days to town
We down more liquor. On the road we encounter partisans playing football. They are in a jovial mood as a mix of bandits and partisans make goals of rifles. Though as we pass the game shots ring out. Four players fall dead. 8 men come from the trees. Us and six soccer players are being held up. They ask us for three pigs to pass. Which is fair. I ask for one ration. Their leader shoots me in the leg. Incensed, and a little drunk, I tell a story of how the meat from a sick pig will turn your insides to water. They leave us with all our pigs
At night three pigs go missing. Someone is singing in the distance. When we find them they are dancing with a woman in dirty clothes of the hill folk. Woman and pig on two feet dancing and giggling. Olag joins the dance, finding some kindness in the dark of the woods. Prapev watches on with shells in his ears.
Back at camp Piotra encounters a fellow Sislander, Piotra's distant cousin Janni Boyavitch.
Day 6 - 1.5 days to town
We decide to march during the night. Sporadic, confused gunfire along the road. Piotra and I creep by. Prapev tries to sneak past a team of Brolanders but the pigs make it impossible. I run off and start a fire to draw their attention. Piotra tries to pry open a bullet to get the gunpowder but can't get it open.
We toss some bullets in the fire to terrify the troops. Prapev and the pigs get discovered by moving troops. Prapev forces the pigs to stampede. Prapev squeals and the soldiers execute him.
Piotra and Olag get ahead down the road to the pigs but their officer and a machine gunner come up behind them. The machine gunner belches a burst of bullets. The gun jams and Piotra and Olag shoot the machine gunner. Their leader throws his gun down and Olag grabs him to try and run away with a hostage. The soldiers catch up to us and the officer mutters to his men to execute himself and Olag.
Piotra made it to the village with all 18 pigs. Uncle Bishka asked where Olag and Prapev are...
